TestAS / dMAT (if required)

TestAS is the standardized subject-aptitude test for international undergraduates applying to German universities. dMAT (digital Medical Admission Test) is the international variant used by several medical faculties. Not every program requires them — check each course page.

Why it's needed
Certain bachelor's programs, especially medicine and engineering at TU9 schools, use TestAS/dMAT to rank international applicants.
Who requires this
Bachelor's applicants to programs that explicitly list TestAS or dMAT as a requirement.

  • Completed 10+2 (or equivalent)
  • Valid passport for booking
  • Basic English or German (test is offered in both)

  • Confirm the target program requires TestAS/dMAT
  • Register 6–8 weeks before the test date
  • Prepare with official practice booklets from TestAS.de
  • Take the test at a certified centre
  • Receive score certificate (usually ~6 weeks)
  • Upload score to Uni-Assist / university portal
