Job Seeker Residence Permit

18 months to find a qualifying job after graduation.

Graduates of German universities can apply for an 18-month residence permit for job search (§ 20 (3) AufenthG). During this time you can take up any employment — no restriction on hours or role — while looking for a qualified position.

Graduates of a German recognised higher-education institution.

  • German degree
  • Health insurance
  • Proof of financial means (~€1,027/month for the search period)
